Hello!!
Recently (more like three months ago lol) my sister got me a bullet journal...
Honestly, I love it. At first I tried to make it all tumblr aesthetic but then it hit me that I have absolutely no talent for drawing. Then I tried spending like half an hour drawing out my template for the week. I got lazy after the first few.
In the end, every month so far I tried a different layout and personally I discovered that making daily task lists was most useful of all. But here appeared the question- how did I plan in the long run? Example- project due next week, sat in a month, driving classes in two weeks.
I basically draw out a calendar and below it I list the numbers 1-31 (each representing a date) and next to each one I put the important event or due item(?). I like being able to see long run goals next to my daily goals because it helps me plan out my time a bit better. So, if you're someone like me who's opinion changes every fifteen seconds (the length of your short term memory), then don't do something too complicated for your journal. I found that keeping it simple gave me an opportunity to do "messy work"- such as crossing things out, scribbling, rewriting, blah blah blah. So if you had a template pre made (lets say you had a box for each day of the week), then you don't have space for additional lists you may want to make. I find myself re-listing my tasks to handle them better or see if I'm trying to accomplish too much in a day. Most commonly, after the tasks for "Friday" I would make an almost identical list of tasks for the "weekend". Re-listing in the order I want and how much I want to accomplish, I'm able to visually see how much needs to be done.
Although my journal lost it's daily aesthetic, I did find it became a lot more useful. Every month I still devote a page for the name of the month with a pretty picture. So, by the end of this year I should have a least 12 pretty pages in my journal xD.
So in terms of recommendation- would I recommend??
It depends on how you approach the journal- if you want it to be pretty all the time, and look at tumblr-esque, then you might actually enjoy it. However, if one of your personality characteristics is "indecisive", you're out of luck. You will be finding yourself looking for templates for hours upon hours. However, you can still have a journal. You can just list stuff (Like me!). If you do that, don't buy a really expensive one, you'll feel bad crossing stuff out :P/
I do recommend a journal, but as they say in Russian- it's for the lovers. Some may like it, some may not.
Thats it for today,
Masha
